Bump - week 23

This picture is already two weeks old, but here's an update on the baby bump!  Gotta love self-photography.

Family plague....who's next?

Saturday night I tossed and turned with a tummy ache. Thinking it may be hunger pains, I got up to have a snack.  I never made it that far and started getting violently ill.  Around noon we ended up in the labor and delivery ward getting IV fluids and being monitored for contractions due to dehydration.   Everything is a-ok now, but we were sure glad to be under the watchful eye of a fabulous nurse Amanda, who was there with us during Kaitlyn's delivery and is my high school friend.

About the time I got home from the hospital, Jason got the bug.  Kakky came to take care of all of us.

The next day Kakky got it.

Guess who has it today?  Pops.

I hope that is the end of the family plague.  The Heidemans are starting to get a bad rap for spreading sickness around.  My co-workers are just stopping at my doorway to check on me, instead of coming into my office. I guess I can't blame them!

Potty training mishap

Yesterday we had to strip Kaitlyn down after an extraordinarily dirty trip to the McDonald's play area. We were on the way up to her bathroom for a much-needed bath.  We left the door to the laundry room open after feeding the dogs dinner, and I hear "Tee-tee! Tee-tee!" and see Kait backing up into the room.  I  holler for Jason and say "DON'T LAUGH!!"    she proceeds to sit down on the dogs' food bowl stand and have a tee-tee into Poor Molly's food bowl. Then she VERY proudly brought me the bowl to show me what she had done.  I was unable to contain my laughter at this point but we were both able to congratulate her through the giggling.  I guess I can see how she got confused. Love that little munchkin!

Remembering....

Well, it has been four years to the day since we lost our sweet, but slightly neurotic, Dixie
and three years tomorrow since we lost Nana. 

I typically try hard not to spend too much time in sadness on these anniversaries, but rather try very hard to remember and share happy memories whenever they come to mind.  this year I find myself really longing for Nana's voice, the smell of her kitchen, our long phone calls about nothing in particular, and our rambling trips through Wal-Mart.  I so wish she were here to see my tummy grow with my second precious baby.   I just miss her so much! I am thankful for the 91 years God gave her to us, and the 28 years she was my Nana. She left some treasures for me to remember her by, and some of my favorites are the cookbooks, especially the ones she inscribed.  i also have a few things left which still smell like her house, and I can not tell you how wonderful that is!  So here's to you, our angel Nana (a.k.a. Mrs. Hazel Taylor).  I love you always.

Cravings - August 31

Since all I can think about today is food, I think the title of today's blog is more appropriate than the usual "Happenings."  More for my own memory's sake, here are some of my major cravings:

When we pull up to a fast food window, we always roll her window down so she can say hello. 50% of the time she will very coyly ask the employee for a coca and/or tortillas :)

Baby Austin is a sports fan!

Just left my "big" sonogram to check all the measurements on Baby H.  The baby is still a "he" and is doing very well.    I thought I'd share a few of my favorites from today. 

I love the number one sign....big question will be....who is he rooting for?  Sooners, Longhorns, Bears, Mustangs??

 I am not a huge fan of the 3D images, or whatever you call this, but he is looking more baby-like here.

happenings - August 17th

A quick update on life at our house:

we're celebrating my wonderful Dad's 60th birthday tomorrow!  What a blessing he is to EVERYONE who knows him.  Can't wait to eat Tex-Mex with him tomorrow for lunch.  Dad/Pops/Wonderful One, We love you!

I am feeling so much better.  the key has been eating at home - only - with little to no take out or eating out.  In the long run this will be better for my weight gain and bank account, too!

We leave for vacation soon. Can't wait.  Our dogs are staying at the house for a weeklong party with their buddy, Bonnie.   Bonnie is the dog-daughter of our friends who are joining us for vacation.   They also have Jellybean the cat who can't stay at our place for her own safety! 

Baby Heideman is starting to make his presence known with flips and little punches and kicks. Nothing that hurts Mommy......yet.
